My name is Lizzie Savar. I have been a servant at Rock Ministries since 2008. I always sensed a calling on my life for the ministry, and I had a strong desire to serve in a third world country that spoke Spanish. Little did I know, my mission field would be 40 minutes from my home!
I got my bachelor’s degree in Special Education and worked as an Autistic Support Teacher for four years. I began to volunteer at the Rock while I was still teaching. It didn’t take long to realize, however, that I would not be able to do both. The level of commitment that each required was simply too demanding. This was God’s way of revealing to me that something was going to have to go.
After much prayer, I realized that God was calling me to quit my job and move to Kensington. I trusted Him to meet my needs and, up to this point, He has supplied in miraculous ways. He’s also allowed me to watch Him raise up ministries that are going strong and empowering the community with the Gospel.
We have a thriving Sunday School through our church, Calvary Chapel of Kensington; and vibrant women’s outreaches that are serving our community in ways that I could have only imagined. Truly, women are turning from their homosexuality and addictions; relationships are being restored; and most importantly, women and children are entering into their own relationship with Jesus Christ.
And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen. John 21:25
Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12
And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24
